Hans Wencher was an engineer at BMW who accasionally raced and took part in a number of Rallies.
In 1936 he won the up to 2 Litre Class in the International Reliability Trial from Lake Constance on the German - Swiss border to Lake Balaton in Hungary.
1939 saw victory in the 2000cc class and 5th overall at Le Mans with Max Prinz zu Schaumburg-Lippe.
In 1940 he was a member of the BMW team at the Mille Miglia, finishing in 6th place in the standings with Rudolf Scholz the BMW 328 Mille Miglia "trouser creases" roadster.
In 1952 he took part in the Monte-Carlo rally, Paris-Cannes, Lyon-Charbonnieres, Rallye des Alpes and was a class winner in the Tour de Belgique.
He continued to compete in Rallies in to the 1960s with a variety of Mercedes, Porsche, Alpha Romeo and DKWs.
