Dick Linder

Dick Linder won three NASCAR Grand National events in 1950, and was considered to be one of the top drivers of the Eastern United States. He was a resident of Pittsburgh, OH, United States. He had a total of 111 wins at speedways during the 50s.

"Dashing" Dick Linder's career was cut short when he was killed in an accident with fellow driver, Don Branson, in the Trenton 100 a round of the USAC National Championship. He was driving a Kurtis 4000D - Offenhauser 'Vargo'.

His younger brother, Gus, who was also an accomplished racing driver heard about the accident from their sister Alice, who witnessed the crash. Gus was taking part in a stock car race in Pittsburgh on the same day.

Dick was due to drive at Indy later in the year.

He has a unique claim to fame in that he was the first and only driver to race a Kaiser.
