Mercedes-man Walter Schock began unusually late with rallying in 1954. But even one year later he was already second in the European Rallye Championship. And after another year he took the title in addition to a German GT Championship, driving a Mercedes 300 SL coupé. In 1960 the Stuttgart born Schock won the famous Rallye Monte Carlo together with Rolf Moll on a Mercedes 220 SE. It was the first German victory in this prestigious event.
