Bill Tempero was founder of the American Indycar Series (AIS), an attempt to reduce and control the cost of competing in Indy cars. The series was aquired by Pan American Motorsports Inc in 1998.
Bill started racing in Formula Ford. Later raced in CanAm, CART, IRL and AIS for some years, winning the AIS Championship 1990, '91,'94 and '95. Now runs a high performance centre for cars in Fort Collins, Colrado, as well as being heavily involved in racing safety through his business Safety Barriers Corporation (http://www.barriersforsafety.com).
Bill also has a huge US Cavalry collection, after growing up in a cavalry background.
