Phil Andrews
Starting racing in the early 1980's Birmingham's Phil Andrews quickly made his way up the Motorsports ladder winning many races in Formula Ford.

Reaching Formula Three in 1988, Phil decided the more powerful cars of Formula 3000 were the way to go and he made his debut at his home track in Birmingham in 1988 before taking in a full season in the ultra competetive formula the following year. Joining Middlebridge Racing Phil teamed up with future F1 star Mark Blundell and put in some terrific qualifying performances, especially at Brands Hatch where he lined up 9th.

Results though did not come his way and for the following year Phil joined the John MacDonald managed Superpower team. Another sensational qualifying performance at Brands saw him line up 4th on the grid but once again bad luck hampered him in the race.

At the end of 1990 Phil took in the British F3000 finale at Donington and simply drove away from the opposition that included Alain Menu and series champion and future F1 driver Pedro Chaves.

1991 saw a move to the domestic F3000 championship in England where Phil was a consistent podium visitor and finished 3rd in the championship behind the late Paul Warwick and rapid Swede Fredrick Ekblom.
