Kenneth Eriksson is a Swedish rally driver who has driven for the manufacturer teams of Subaru, Mitsubishi and Skoda, to name but a few. He was the 1986 Group B Champion, however the year was overshadowed by a number of fatalities.
Although his finest showing in the top-tier World Rally Championship was third place in 1995, he is not short of titles. One of his principal claims to fame is in winning the one and only Group A World Championship running in 1986. Between 1995 and 1997, he also notched up a hat-trick of Asia-Pacific rally titles.
He also has six individual World Rally wins under his belt. Particularly famous was his victory in New Zealand for Subaru in 1997, taking advantage of Carlos Sainz's altercation with a sheep to take the lead.
After finishing fourth on the 1998 Swedish Rally Eriksson was released from his shackles at Subaru in order to pursue a kit-car and latterly a World Rally Car chance with Hyundai. With 6th on the 2001 Rally Great Britain his solitary points finish for the team, he enjoyed his final season with Skoda, in 2002.
He departed the 'works' world rally scene at the end of 2002.
