Born in Arrecifes near Buenos Aires in Argentina, Ángel Lo Valvo was a pioneer of Argentine motor sport. He started racing in 1936 and in 1937 established a piece of history when he won the very first Turismo Carretera race. The race started from in front of the Argentine Automobile Club in Buenos Aires on August 5th 1937 and finished 10 days later in La Plata. Lo Valvo won in a time of 80 hours 36 minutes 19 seconds, winning 40 thousand pesos which helped him to pay off his debts.

He continued racing and took the championship two years later in 1939. That year he also raced in the first running of the Mille Miglia Argentina, finishing 5th.
