Abecassis began racing in 1935 and enjoyed some success before WWII driving an Alta. After the war he joined up with John Heath at Hersham and Walton Motors in Surrey. He raced one of their HMW cars in the Swiss Grand Prix at Bremgarten in 1951 and 1952. He won his class at Le Mans with Lance Macklin in 1950.

British Formula One driver who participated during the 1983 and 1985 seasons for the RAM team. His best result was 12th position in the 1983 South African Grand Prix.

The son of Lord Beaverbrook he was a Voiturette driver who raced with his own Maserati 6CM and later the Alfa Bimotore which he modified into the Alfa-Aitken. He died in a boating accident when he fell of a yacht.

Having started in outboard boat racing and the straight-line appeal of drag racing in 1957 and 1958, Akin turned to road racing in 1959. After some success he retired in 1961. He returned to the tracks in 1973 in historic racing but then in 1978 he aquired a Porsche RSR and competed in a full season of IMSA racing. He turned professional in 1979 and racked up an impressive list of achievements including the Sebring 12 hour race in 1979 and 1986 and the IMSA Championship in 1986. He was killed as a result of injuries sustained driving a 1988 Nissan GTP ZX-Turbo in testing for a historic sports car race, the Walter Mitty Challenge.

Achieved successes both as a racing driver and as a rally driver in the 1930s especially in Mother Gun, the 6½ litre Bentley.

Sydney Allard was a successful trials and hill climb driver. He also pioneered dragster racing in the UK and produced dragsters.

Ted Allery started racing on motorcycles and competed at Brooklands in the late 1920s. He was killed there in 1930 while acting as a riding mechanic for Colonel Rabagliati in a Talbot 90.

John Aley started motor sport after the War. He raced saloons and was part of the European Touring Car Championship winning Fiat Abarth Works Squad. Since retiring from racing he has been involved in the administration and organisation of the sport.

Cliff Allison started his racing career in a Formula 3 Cooper 500 in 1953 before being spotted by Colin Chapman. He competed in Formula One between 1958 to 1961 for the Lotus, Scuderia Centro Sud, Ferrari and UDT Laystall scoring a total of 11 points.

One of the last true independant F1 drivers, Bob Anderson started out racing motorcyles. He switched to cars and the F1 World Championship and had a best finish of 3rd in the Austrian GP in 1964.
