Chula Chakrabongse was the son of the Prince of Siam, Chakrabongse, and his Russian wife, Ekatrina Desnitskaya.

In England Chula met an Englishwoman, Elizabeth Hunter, or Lisba as she was more familiarly known. He reports that she was his "English 'dream girl'", with blonde hair and blue eyes. If the Thai side of the family disapproved of Chula and Lisba's love and the English side was no more welcoming. Nevertheless, the couple married in 1938 and, in 1956, after 18 years of marriage they had a daughter, Narisa.

When Bira came to England in 1927 he was supervised by his older cousin Prince Chula Chakrabongse. Prince Chula Chakrabongse, ran a racing team called White Mouse Racing and the 21-year-old Bira thought he might try his hand at motor racing.

In 1936 Chula's White Mouse team purchased an ERA for Bira to drive and he quickly became one of the leading exponents of this voiturette class of international racing. At the end of 1948 Bira's partnership with Prince Chula was dissolved.

Chula succumbed to cancer in 1964.
