Harry Eisele
Born in Los Angeles Bud Rose (real name Harry Eisele) was a well know sprint car and saloon car driver on the dirt ovals of California.

In 1949 MGM was well into production on a glossy, big budget racing movie called ”To Please A Lady,” starring Clark Gable and Barbara Stanwyck. Bud Rose, who bore an uncanny resemblance to Gable, moustache and all, was hired to drive the car for the staged race scenes.

In 1958 Bud Rose won the 500 Memorial Day weekend Sprint Car race at Riverside in a Kurtis KK2000. This was the car that had featured in the 1950 MGM film. Rose had retired in 1952 after winning the Oakland 500 but came out of retirement to drive in this much publicised event sanctioned by the CRA. He covered the 190 laps of the 2.6 mile circuit in a shade under six hours at a speed of 84.50 mph.
